MHS Teachers

Although originally from the Midwest, Ms. Frias’ musical studies brought her to Massachusetts to pursue a Bachelors in Music in Music Education at Gordon College. While at Gordon, Ms. Frias studied the violin under Dr. Susan Kim, and was an active member of the Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Music Program. She was also honored as the recipient of the Gordon College Music Guild Scholarship. This past summer, Ms. Frias returned to her alma mater to begin pursuing a Masters of Music Education.

Since 2012, Ms. Frias has had the privilege of working for the Marblehead Public Schools, where she teaches and directs the string lessons and ensemble rehearsals for grades 3-12. In addition to her role as Director of Orchestras, Ms. Frias is the advisor to Marblehead High School’s Tri-M Music Honor Society.

Outside of Marblehead, Ms. Frias serves as the conductor of the Prelude Strings Ensemble for the Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras(NMYO) .


Kevin Goddu is the director of bands for Marblehead High School and Marblehead Veterans Middle School. At the high school he teaches: Concert Band, Jazz Bands, and Marching Band as well as Intro to Guitar, Hand Drumming, and History of Rock and Roll. At the middle school he teaches the 7th and 8th grade Concert Band. Mr. Goddu holds both a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degrees in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Lowell where he studied Saxophone. In addition to Marblehead, Mr. Goddu is the Assistant Director of the UMass Lowell Basketball Pep Band, Staff member of the Mary Jo Leahey Symphonic Band Camp, and works for the Office of Instrumental Music Outreach which provides music education for the Greater Merrimack Valley. As a performer, Mr. Goddu has held principle chairs in various ensembles including The University of Massachusetts Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Rock Big Band, Studio Orchestra, and was the field conductor of the UMass Lowell Marching Band. Mr. Goddu was the recipient of MMEA Promising Future Music Educator Award in 2016, and the UML Chancellor Medal of Student Service. Ashley Skeffington is a lifelong Salem resident and a graduate of Merrimack College. While at Merrimack, she studied English and Education with a concentration in Drama. At North Andover High School, she directed several mainstage productions and also served as a liaison to Shakespeare & Company in Lenox Massachusetts. She briefly served as the Drama Director at Essex Technical High School as well. As an actor and director, she has collaborated with a number of local groups, including Salem Theatre Company, MLT, Cape Ann Theatre Collaborative, Quinnapowett Players, and the Emerson Umbrella.


Andrew Scoglio directs the choral program and teaches general music classes at Marblehead High School. Mr. Scoglio holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he studied voice and piano. As a singer in the UMass Chamber Choir, Scoglio toured Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic, performing in famous venues such as Melk Abbey in Austria and the Lobkowicz Palace in Pargue. A
member of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, Scoglio performs with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall and Tanglewood. Mr. Scoglio is a recipient of the MMEA Promising Young Educator Award.
